Running dry: Protest over water supply disruption
Protesters gather outside Swat Press Club and chanted slogans against the chief municipal office
MINGORA:
Hundreds of residents of Rang Mohallah held a rally on Thursday against the closure of a water supply line to their area. The protesters gathered outside Swat Press Club and chanted slogans against the chief municipal officer. They blocked the Mingora-Rang Mohallah Road and burnt tyres, demanding water supply be restored immediately. Residents claim the supply has been blocked for the past six months, forcing them to fetch water from Swat River or nearby springs. “Even on Eid, my children and I had to fetch water from a spot two kilometres away from my house,” said Muhammad Ali, a local.
