Gilani’s son charged with murder
A case has been registered against Syed Abdul Qadir Gilani, son of former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, and his guards after they allegedly killed a student on Wednesday night.
The case was registered in Defence Police Station on the intervention of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif after the relatives and residents of the area staged a protest outside the residence of Yousaf Raza Gilani in Lahore.
The victim, Tahir Malik, and his brother Waheed, were going to a relative's house on their bike to distribute sacrificial meat, when they came across Qadir Gilani's motorcade near Bedian Road.
Waheed told the police that the guards shouted at and abused them, forcing them to stay away from the motorcade. However, they again came across the motorcade near the DHA’s E-Block where the guards again started shouting at them, he added.
Tahir had a heated exchange of words with the guards and tried to cross the motorcade when the guards opened fire at them, killing Tahir on the spot while his brother Waheed also got injured.
Police said that no weapon was found from the deceased while Abdul Qadir Gilani told police that he had been receiving threats from unknown person for the past several days. However, the SHO Defense A, where the FIR was lodged, told The Express Tribune that no application has been filed by the Gilani family about any threat.
Officials further informed that Gilani family has handed over the guard – Muhammad Khan, 35 – to the police, who have been shifted him to an unknown location for interrogation. Weapon used in the crime, a 222 rifle, has also been handed over to the police.
DIG Operations, Dr Haider Ashraf told The Express Tribune that SP CIA Umer Virk has been assigned the task to locate former prime minister's son, by tracking his mobile phone.

I read most of the comments and am glad that by and large the incident has been condemned. Mr Dayo came to support the murderers, saying one of the brothers had been kidnapped, well Mr Dayo the same Mr Ali Haider took 50 crores from a group of people to get their work done and when he couldnt deliver he was kidnapped and a sum of Rs. five Arab was demanded. So lets keep the facts ahead of us before hiding their shameful actions. And sir what would your reaction be if the murdered person was your brother or son ? please be honest this time. Even if the verdict of guilty is given by the courts, khoon bha remains and a large amount of money will be offerd, who can blame the family if they accept it and the so called VIPS will go Scott free to live and kill again. It has happend before all allowed by the law and sharia.

Yes happened to me as well, abused by Gilani's guards, near his house in DHA Lahore. No reason, we were just minding our own business. I thought the guard/police was saying something to us, maybe it was important? Then my colleague told me no no they were just abusing for no reason, just like that.

Do we know the definition of VIP? Who is true VIP in Kuwait or Pakistan is to be understood. Please allow me to be blunt, if not annoying, to give two examples of Kuwaiti VIPs as against our VIPs so that it is quite crystal clear as to who is a VIP in the truest sense. Last Amir of Kuwait H.H. Sheikh Saad Abdullah Al Sabah upon his death has been named as Father Amir while his predecessor H.H. Sheikh Jabar Al Ahmad Al Sabah when dies his nation named him as Amir ul Qaloob (Amir of Hearts) whereas in my beloved Pakistan our VIPs met death (Zulfiqar Bhutto + Benazir Bhutto) and jail (Zardari + Nawaz Sharif). Interestingly quoting World Bank figures based on actual data for the period 2011-2013 it is noted that Kuwait per capita income is US$85,660 while Pakistan per capita income for the same period under the reference is as low as US $4,699 meaning by that here much richer Kuwaiti VIP does not boast at all of being VIP whereas my Pakistani VIP commands and thrusts his VIP entity on his compatriots and if someone ignores our VIP then he or she ensures that the defaulter be rightly punished on this account (Senator Malik Rehman not only got his flight delayed but also ensured that the employee be terminated from PIA employment). Believe you me here the traffic continues on the right side of the road while Amir is being driven on the left side of the road where the traffic will be halted for about 30 minutes at maximum and none will even raise his or her eye brows what to talk of grumbling as to why the traffic is halted but in Pakistan not only the main road through where our VIP will pass but also the side and approach roads are closed for hours and hours. I myself have faced such situations meaning by I am not telling any airy fairy story as one may think about rather I am stating nothing but hard facts. GO NAWAZ GO or for that matter GO AYUB GO is very often and commonly shouted in land of pure named Pakistan but on the other hand none on the face of earth can quote that even once GO was shouted alike in Kuwait since time immemorial itself proves who is a VIP and who is not a VIP. It is very shameful that an innocent young boy is gunned down by son (not VIP) on PM Yousuf Gillani on a very petty issue. Before this story snowballs and everyone has a say of their own, let me confirm today that all charges will be dropped against Gillani's son and he will escape the country in the next few days. Also he will return back in a few years and will be the next MNA/minister from the PPP in his home town halqa. As for the victim's family, they will settle for a fidya and might eventually leave the country to settle abroad very soon.

I'm reminded of the VIP culture of India reading this sad report - sometime ago the sitting mayor of Mumbai refused to remove red beacon light from her official motorcade (she was legally allowed only orange beacon) and was summoned by court for this breach.
There are extreme abuses of VIP privilege in India too, especially in lawless parts of north and east. But they seem to be at least trying to improve their situation while things are getting from bad to worse here.
I feel sorry for the victim, and these high-handed motorcades are indeed barbaric and against the rights of other citizens. That said, the Gilani family has one son kidnapped for over a year, and they had to take precautions. A couple of youngsters chasing them on motorcycles are bound to make nervous guards even more nervous. A sensibly person would not provoke a motorcade which includes armed guards.
Guys, we need to look at the other side of the coin too. Let us ask those who got robbed at gun point by motor cyclists or the likes; its not easy to digest but once been through such experience, you are forced to see all bike riders with fear and suspicion. For this particular case, we have to keep in mind that his brother was kidnapped from in the middle of a gathering and to date is not recovered and the family has received multiple threats - the guards are there for reason. The motor cyclists in this case clearly ignored the requests made to them - perhaps at the behest of Imran Khan - who is directly or indirectly inciting the masses. I know we all detest the vip culture and the absolute power exercised by the ruling class but we have to understand also that these vips are under constant threat from the Taliban and the likes. The motor cyclicsts should have exercised caution and avoid unnecessary pangay bazi and the gaurds on the otherhand must have fired warning shots or avoid a fatal shot at least.
Damn with VIP culture. And how do they become very important. My foot. They are vultures in Pakistan. Get rid of them ASAP. Enough is enough. No more of this should be tolerate. I have faced similar situations where guards of a VIP started abusing me for no reason while driving on the road. I felt like cursing them in reply but I knew there is no rule of law and I might get killed and no one will be punished. I think we have had enough. Feel sorry for the departed soul for challenging the VIP's. I hope he gets justice.
Police need not to locate the main culprit (Abdul Qadir Gilani). Simply ask Yousuf Raza Gilani to hand over his son to police. We all should make sure its not just another Sharukh Jatoi case (Karachi). And who the heck is AQ Gilani to travel with such a motorcade?

Be biateral, India has not used this group. What has happened is Modi asked this group o vacate the rent free premises it was occupying. Why was the case not registered against Abdul Qadir Gillani, in whose presence and consent the guard fired and murdered this innocent young man. If an FIR can be lodged against PM, CM, Ministers for murder of 14 people in Model Town, why not against this corrupt to the core son of a corrupt former PM, who did not hesitate to fleece even Hajj/Umra pilgrims. The deceased crossed the motorcade twice and was told by guards not to come too near.

I just want to make clear that I think this man is a buffoon, however, everyone needs to keep in mind that their family was attacked and a brother was kidnapped. His guards are their for a reason, and they responded with what they perceived to be a threat. The motorcycle should have thought about that! This is really a tragic incident for all the nation. If I am not wrong, Ali Mosa Gillani (the other son of Yousaf Raza Gillani) is still missing and is in the clutches of Taliban. When state does not provide the secutiry to its citizens then they arrange guards on their own. Then every common person is assumed as the suspect who might kill or kidnap people like Qadir Gillani.

When Tahir was asked to be aside then why he had the exchange of harsh words with the guards? Why he did not bring the patience in him? Why he got outbrusted?
This reminds me the case of Sarfaraz who was shot by the rangers in Karachi but this time the case is totally change. This has provided the fuel to the political opponents of PPP who now have to face critcism. All those people who are now cursing Qadir and the Guard, they must also improve their courage to condemn the killing of Salman Taseer who was shot by his own guard.

It's clear that there would've been no case otherwise. Whether this family gets justice or not is another matter.
