ISLAMABAD:

The Margalla police have arrested two suspected kidnappers and recovered an abducted seven-year-old girl from their possession, a police spokesman informed on Sunday.

The police have obtained physical remand of the two suspects, identified as Mithu and Khuram Shezad.

The spokesman said Muhammad Yusuf, a resident of Sector G-8/2, had lodged a report with the police stating that his daughter Zarlish Jabeen was playing in the street when two motorists kidnapped her. The kidnappers later contacted the girl’s father and demanded Rs10 million to release the girl.

The police registered a case under Section 365-A/34 and launched investigation into the case, which led them to uncover that the ransom call was made from a Public Call Office (PCO). The police started monitoring the PCO and nabbed a suspect when he visited the site again. The suspect led the police to his accomplice as well as the abducted girl in Sector G-8.

The police have also confiscated the car the suspects allegedly used in the kidnapping and say Mithu is a fraudster who previously defrauded people of money against promises of foreign visas.
