LAHORE:
Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) Chairman Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Ashrafi on Wednesday condemned terrorism and the atrocities committed by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.
“The Pakistan Ulema Council believes that there is no room for terrorism, extremism and barbarism in Islam and no group has the right to kill innocent people. The Pakistan Ulema Council also believes that rulers of a country do not have the right to massacre their people,” Ashrafi said in a statement issued to media.
He said that such terrorist organisations had been formed in reaction to the oppression meted on citizens by the sitting Syrian government.
“The action against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant will not be effective as long as the people continue to be oppressed in Iraq and Syria on the basis of their sects and beliefs,” the PUC chairman said.

What Pakistan is doing in N. Waziristan is a sort of massacre? You don't bomb your own citizens. No one ever talks about collateral damage in N Waziristan. Millions of Pakistanis have been made homeless now called IDP's. Can any one believe Pakistan did all this to fight few hundred terrorists?

A bit late in the game? Where was he when Chemical weapons were being used on Syrian people - not sure what the casualty rate is anymore was over 100,000 well over a year ago.
@ModiFied: Could you elaborate on word "progressive"?You may have to modify your expression if you mean what progressive stands for in these times unless you imply the same.
Mr Ashrafi is one sensible cleric Pakistan has. I find most of his speeches progressive and fairly reasonable.
When your right hand fights with your left hand....... you comes across a bit of a joke. This is a problem that can only be solved by the Muslim world and they seem incapable of doing so.
Ashrafi is a shame to Islam.
