[Un]fair trade: Phone dealer sued for ‘bad’ handset

LAHORE: A consumer court issued a notice on Tuesday to a cell-phone dealer on a suit seeking Rs50,000 damages for selling a defective handset to the petitioner. Muhammad Adnan told the court he had purchased a cell phone for Rs10,000 from Muhammad Ali who assured him that he would be responsible for any fault. Adnan said the handset had stopped functioning properly a few days after the purchase. He said Ali was neither replacing the phone nor returning him the money.

Ali said he had removed the defect in the handset. He said Adnan should have returned to him again if the phone was still not working.
