Fawad Khan is riding high on the success of his Bollywood debut Khoobsurat. With a growing fanbase on both sides of the border, the actor aims at broadening his horizons. He is reportedly in talks for another Bollywood project and this time “it will be something very different from Khoobsurat.”
He also wishes to helm an Indo-Pak cinematic collaboration. “I want to put together a film with like-minded people,” he said. “I’d love to manage at least one project on both sides of the border next year. My friends in Pakistan and I are trying to put together a Pakistani-Indian project with Indian talent. We are looking forward to a collaborative project, but this time, it will be a Pakistani production,” he added.
Fawad is being viewed as a mascot of peace between India and Pakistan. “To be seen that way would be the biggest honour for me. I am a very peace-loving person and if I can promote peace on any level between the two countries, it’d be my greatest achievement,” he said.
Among the contemporary Pakistani actors who have recently tried their hand at Bollywood films, Fawad’s role in Khoobsurat has stood out for many. On why he accepted the role in the film, he said, “When I met Khoobsurat’s co-producer, Rhea Kapoor, I instantly knew we were on the same wavelength.”
Now that his experiment in Bollywood has borne fruit, he aims at diversifying the roles he portrays on the screen. “I want to increase the bandwidth of my cinematic knowledge, so I can do something on my own,” he said. It was his search for more daunting tasks that took him across the border after his successful stints in television dramas, such as Humsafar and Zindagi Gulzar Hai. “After I managed to make a mark, I wanted to move on. There is no variation or challenge in working with the same set of people repeatedly. I needed to get out of my comfort zone,” he shared.
But he acknowledged that it is because of his performances in television that he has been able to garner recognition in India. “I was surprised by the two serials’ popularity [in India] and I am happy that my performance has been appreciated. I have come to be known there for my television shows in Pakistan, I suppose,” said the singer-turned-actor.
He admitted that he never thought he would pursue acting as a career. “My take on acting is a bit of a joke. I never thought of acting as a career choice,” he shared. Despite his fans’ admiring his bearded look, Fawad is all set for change. “I’m sorry if this hurts my audience, but the beard will go off. It must go off. I can’t keep it on much longer,” he commented. “I am trying to take on a completely new look. I was much heftier than I am now. I lost a lot of weight and I have to gain some now.”

It's good move to tie people-to-people contact between both countries when the govt. is hostile at both ends. Bollywood connects more people between both countries on common platform than any other stuffs
Fawad khan rocks
@Mega: I Agree with you on a certain point. But I would like to mention 1 thing here, Kareena has shot for many Pakistan's print and tv media(for Paki products),not as a bolly actress but as a global star and She also had done a movie that is very anti Pakistan but no one bashes her or boycotts her from making further appearances. We need to see them as performers not as a Paki or an Indian or whatever.
@Gp65: That's what I already mentioned I've many Indian friends who actually love his or any Paki's work without any discrimination. I based my comment on what I read in the comments section of most of the news/entertainment websites. There are many people like @Harish Sharma who are like really antagonistic towards Pakis working in India. See Pakistan's entertainment news have always Indian content in it. Amir Khan's birthday mention is in our headlines and all I see in the comment section is praise and wishes. But I don't see that from Indians as of yet. This is just how I feel mayb because of how it's projected. I really hope I'm wrong because all I care about is Love and Peace all around te world.
@Anaya ali: Don't stereotype. If Indians had a problem with Pakistani talent, Indians producers would not hire them and Indian audiences would not listen to their songs or watch their movies
@Mega
Agree with you.
@Harish Sharma: I don't understand what's your prooblem with it, he is a wonderful actor and he is more than welcome to work anywhere he want and is welcomed by his fans......
I really don't understand why Indians are so hostile towards Pakis working in India. A lot of Indian actresses and actors have worked for Pakistani adds. Your dramas are aired on our channels, your Movies are shown in our cinemas, your actors are praised here. we get really happy if an Indian actor comes to Pak and works there and I'm talking about majority. So please stop being so racist and take the hatred down a notch. I live in Dubai and have many Indians friends and they actually like this guy because they r not backward like u guys. Peace
i think fawad khan is a brilliant actor and he cares for both sides of the border give him a chance. he has done great in his first project.he does not need any kick at all he was invited by the kapoor family for this project he was the most highest paid actor in his country so no one needs to kick him out bollywood now needs him .he can walk out whenever he wants but he is an actor and that proffection like dr,eng and so on dont have boundries.good luck to him on his sucsses any where in the world . NAYYER
@Aakashvaani Seems someone else is feeling very very insecure :)
@Harish Sharma: U r for sure is a Pakistan, trying to create unnecessary controversy just to get some kick.
@Sara Insecure??? How long will it take for us to kick all of your 'talent' out of the country? So yeah...keep that in mind. lol
@Harish Sharma
You always have the option to vote with your TV remote. Cheers!
@Harish Sharma Seems someone is feeling insecure :)
Talent knows no boundaries... :) the @Harish Sharma:
@Harish Sharma: Why do indians go for Hollywood. And why do indians like Pak dramas and singers
I cant understand why Pak invades in Bolly wood. work in your own industry
