10 new polio cases confirmed

PESHAWAR:


Ten fresh polio cases emerged in different parts of the country on Monday, taking the overall tally for this year so far to 184. The cases were tested at the polio virology laboratory of the National Institute of Health (NIH), according to a health ministry official.


Of the fresh cases, two each were from Frontier Region (FR) Bannu and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, four from Khyber Agency and two from Karachi. The cases from FR Bannu are a 10-month-old boy, resident of Jani Khel area, and a six-month-old girl from Bakka Khel area.

Similarly, a 48-month-old girl, from Koga union council of Buner district, and 14-month-old boy, from Mayar area of Mardan district, tested positive in K-P.

The afflicted children from Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency are a six-month-old boy and a one-year-old girl from Mera Aka Khel area, and a seven-month-old boy and a 15-month-old girl from Ajab Talab area.

Additionally, two children tested positive from Gadap Town of Karachi.

The health ministry official added that with the new cases, the tally for this year so far has reached 184.
