ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan suggested that the All Pakistan Textiles Mills Association (Aptma) should adopt farmer friendly policies. Showing his concern, he said that current cotton prices are the lowest in the last four years, and it is not possible for farmers to break even. A statement quoted him saying that Aptma should revisit its unfriendly policies, otherwise farmers would not be in a position to cultivate cotton next year and the trend would become detrimental for the economic state of the country. Warning the association, Bosan said that the farmers are unhappy with these prices, and there is no other way left for them except to not cultivate the cotton crop. The minister also said that he would continue to struggle for the rights of farmers.
