LAHORE: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has decided to reserve 50 per cent seats at medical colleges for boys. The decision was taken at a meeting in February 2014. A notification in this regard was issued on September 18. According to the notification, the decision was taken due to the growing proportion of women choosing not to pursue the profession after graduating. It says that seats may be filled on this basis of open merit. The decision will be enforced across all public and private medical institutions for the 2014-2015 session. The policy will not apply to women medical colleges.
