Flood Relief: Compensation payments from Oct 1

LAHORE: Minister for Labour Raja Ashfaq Sarwar said on Friday flood victims would get first installment of financial assistance from October 1. He was presiding over a meeting of office-bearers of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) from 16 flood-hit districts. He said the first installment of Rs25,000 each would be handed over to those whose houses had been destroyed in the calamity. In the second phase starting October 25, he said, flood victims would be compensated for the damage dealt to their crops. He asked PML-N office-bearers to help district administrations identify those who deserved the assistance. He said politicians in the areas affected by floods would be taken on-board while disbursing the assistance among flood victims.
