Kidnapping for ransom: Three held, victim recovered

Police had registered an FIR in response to an application filed by Muhammad Riaz, the abductee’s uncle.

The Shehzad Town police on Wednesday arrested three alleged kidnappers and recovered an abducted a man from them, said a police spokesman.


A special team headed by SP Zubair Ahmed Sheikh arrested three people, identified as Iftikhar Ahmed, Gul Meedar, Naseeruddin and recovered Ali Aziz who had been abducted from the capital’s outskirts on September12.

Police had registered an FIR in response to an application filed by Muhammad Riaz, the abductee’s uncle.

The complainant had stated that his nephew was abducted by unidentified people who had demanded Rs50 million as ransom. Following the FIR, Islamabad IG Tahir Alam Khan constituted special team which, after investigation, arrested the kidnappers and will produce them before a court tomorrow.

SSP Operations Asmatullah Junejo, who recently rejoined the force after being injured during clashes at Constitution Avenue, appreciated the performance of the Shehzad Town police and announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for them.

He also directed all officials to ensure effective policing in their respective areas.
