Terror charges: JIT to probe attack on parliament

ISLAMABAD:

A Joint Investigation Team (JIT) formed to probe terrorism charges against PTI chief Imran Khan and PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri started its work on Monday after a notification was issued in this behalf.

The team, headed by SP Saddar Captain (retd) Elias Ahmed, includes SP City Mustansar Feroze and an SHO Secretariat as well as representatives from the Inter-Services Intelligence and the Intelligence Bureau.

“I am not in a position to confirm or deny it. Ask Ministry of Interior,” said Chief Commissioner Zulfiqar Haider while talking to The Express Tribune.  The police officials said that they heard about the news but did not receive any notification. SP Ahmed said that he did not get any letter. “Neither I have received any letter nor started working on the cases,” he said.

SP Feroz and SHO Secretariat, Muhammad Nawaz Bhatti, also claimed that no notification had reached them.

Both Imran and Qadri have been booked under the Anti-Terrorist Act 1997, after the protesters attempted to attack the parliament and enter its boundaries.
