The next 72 hours are crucial for the party’s decisive conclusion, according to Umar Ayaz Abbasi, PAT’s deputy information secretary.
Abbasi was elaborating on the speech delivered by PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri on Monday evening from his container. Within three days, Qadri said, the revolution will be converted into a massive storm.
“We hope the government of Nawaz Sharif will fall within 72 hours,” said the PAT leader, who exuded confidence while sharing details following his leader’s speech.
He said that a meeting of PAT’s central working committee is scheduled for Monday night, where an important decision will be taken about the endgame of the sit-in. “You can say the next 72 hours are critical for our protest,” he noted.
Abbasi claimed that the government is planning to launch a crackdown against our workers as the inspector general of police has asked the forces to remain alert. Likewise, PAT has drawn up its plan to cope with the situation.
He maintained that PAT has called its workers from different areas to reach the D-Chowk immediately. “We will respond in the same way.”
When asked whether the PAT supporters will again march towards prime minister’s house and other important institutions in the Red Zone, he said, “The decision will be taken within 24 hours on what to do to conclude the sit-in in a decisive way,” he maintained.
Earlier, Dr Tahirul Qadri said that his anti-government sit-in has entered the 40th day and now within two to three days the revolution will be transformed into a massive storm.
“We have made the strategy as to how it will be done,” said Qadri while congratulating his supporters for awakening the people of the country.
“The revolution has already come and voice of ‘Go Nawaz Go’ echoes from everywhere. People have not only become aware of their rights, but are now bold enough to raise their voice against the oppressors”, said the PAT chief.
Qadri stated that the chants of ‘Go Nawaz Go’ also echoed during the Asian Games in South Korea and Nawaz Sharif will be greeted with the same slogan in New York during his visit to the UN on Tuesday.
He said that it was the first time that weak segments of society have challenged the traditional rulers, who have hijacked the country since independence. “We have given awareness to people and they have now started challenging the status quo,” he added.
