He was talking to a delegation of workers from various political parties at the QWP’s central secretariat, Watan Kor.
Sherpao underlined the need to forge unity among Pukhtuns because they are feeling deprived in the prevailing political scenario.
“The country is passing through a difficult phase and troubled people from smaller provinces are becoming disenchanted with the rulers,” he added.
The QWP chief said mainstream political parties failed to meet the expectations of the people and that led to disillusionment among the masses, in general, and political workers, in particular.
Sherpao added workers were disengaging from political activities due to the attitude of the leaders of certain parties.
According to Sherpao, political workers should be mobilised so their energies could be used to develop the country. “It is a very dangerous trend and people have lost interest in political activities,” he maintained.
The leader added economic deprivation and the lack of job opportunities have caused resentment among the youth. “Some elements are taking undue advantage of the situation by using young people to promote their vested interests,” said Sherpao.
He said the QWP was the only voice for the unity, stability and prosperity of Pukhtuns and it would soon launch a mass outreach campaign to mobilise political workers and the public.
