KARACHI:

K-Electric (K-E) kick-started the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) with a 1-0 win against NBP at the KPT Stadium on Saturday.

The victorious team has never won the league’s title and has been finishing as runners-up since the past three years.

K-E began their match with confidence against NBP, with Muhammad Rasool scoring the winner in the 44th minute of the match. Match commissioner Ali Nawaz Baloch commented that while NBP are a good team as well, they missed some opportunities to score.

“It’s a good start to the season,” Baloch told The Express Tribune. “The number of spectators will also increase in the coming weeks.

“In the opening match, K-E had the edge and they were expected to win, but NBP also performed well.” He added that the competition will be more intense this season with just 12 teams instead of 16.
