On air: FM 104.6 revamps broadcasts

Punjab University’s FM 104.6 launched a Punjabi news bulletin and increased duration of its transmissions by one hour on Friday. The service broadcasts between 11am and 4pm. A statement released by the Institute of Communication Studies said the initiative was taken to promote Punjabi language and culture. It said the service had taken a number of initiatives to expand the reach of its bulletin. The statement said the service would also begin airing bulletins in English next week. It said the initiatives would polish students’ skills by providing them with practical experience in journalism. The statement said the increased transmissions would provide more students with the opportunity of learning broadcast journalism. It said the initiatives would also increase their linguistic proficiency and polish their oratory skills.
