MANSEHRA:

A ranch caught fire on Wednesday in a village in Chatar Plain union council in Mansehra district. The blaze killed buffaloes and bulls worth thousands of rupees, said the police and locals.

The police quoted Juma Din, a resident of Shakoora Khun village, as saying he went to sleep after locking his four buffaloes, two bulls and five goats in a ranch close to his house. During the early hours of Wednesday, he woke up to some noise and saw flames billowing from the ranch.

Din said when he went to rescue his animals with the help of some villagers, he found all them had died and the ranch had burnt to the ground. He estimated his loss amounted to over a million rupees. The cause of the fire could not be ascertained, said the police.
