Claim refuted: Police rubbish PTI’s sub inspector’s resignation claim

The CPO said the examination of the records had refuted his claims.

FAISALABAD:

City Police Officer (CPO) Sohail Tajik said on Wednesday that no sub inspector with the name of Yasir Javaid had resigned from Faisalabad Police as claimed during the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf sit-in on Tuesday.

He said records were examined as soon as the claim was aired and it was discovered that no person by that name was on the rolls of the police. Javaid had claimed that he had been asked by his superiors to torture PTI activists.

He said he had resigned from his post as he could not execute the orders. Tajik said he had claimed that he had joined police as an assistant sub inspector in 2000 and had been promoted in 2008 to the rank of a sub inspector.

The CPO said he had claimed that his belt number was 861. Tajik said the examination of the records had refuted his claims. He said they showed that no ASI had been inducted in 2000 and no records regarding his appointment and subsequent promotion were present. Tajik said his belt number could not be verified. He said the phone number provided in the claim belongs to Javaid Iqbal, a resident of Kabirwala.
