Hitting out at his adversaries for criticising him for calling for more administrative units, Hussain said there is not a single country in the world with a population as big as Pakistan's and have so few administrative units. "In order to save Pakistan, more administrative units need to be created."
“Now even Pakistan Awami Tehreek chief Dr Tahirul Qadri and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan are also calling for more administrative units, what I have been advocating for more than three decades.”
Addressing his party workers and supporters via telephone on his 61st birthday, the MQM chief called for holding local body election.
“People have been spreading false propaganda that MQM is finished and Altaf Hussain’s comrades have left him alone, I want to tell them that my workers can die but they can never leave me."
Urging Sindhi nationalist leaders to avoid confrontation, the MQM chief asked everyone to spread the message of love since that is the only way of truly becoming one nation. He lamented that they had been victimised and called traitors for demanding new administrative units.
Side with the people
Addressing armed forces of the country, the MQM chief said defence of the country is the army’s duty while running government’s affair is the duty of the civilians. But in a country where the "top judge of the highest court is accused of rigging, in that country, the army should be prepared to side with the people," said Altaf.
Reforming the party
Still fresh from the events of the weekend, where a disgruntled Altaf had resigned, only to withdraw the resignation on the insistence of MQM workers, he reiterated his commitment to reform the party.
Altaf said that he would appoint honest and hard working people at all the administered posts of his party.
Talking about the corrupt elements in his own party, Altaf said, people who have adopted a feudal outlook in the party, and have become arrogant, he will take the 'iron rod' out of their necks.
MQM chief urged his workers to respect party leaders, adding that he is looking into allegations of corruption and mismanagement by party leaders. He vowed to revive the MQM’s golden days.

Its a good sign to take action against the rising negative elements in party it will gonna help make this party more perceptive. More administrative units will give help to make the country prosperous and can help to resolve the problems more earlier and efficiently.
@Aschraful Makhlooq: The present Army Chief, unlike Musharraf, is unbiased. He has no political agenda.
@Mohajir: "The pride of Pakistan."
Is the pride led by Nawaz Sharif or someone else?
Army should not take any sides. Its sworn duty is to be support the constitutionally elected government and take its orders.
@Zack: And, handover Musharraf to justice.
Who is the man in the picture?
Fully support Altaf Hussain Statement. Pak Army must support the nation which is asking a change from this corrupt system. They are duty bound to support the people of Pakistan who wants a new Pakistan in which they can live with dignity and have complete faith and trust in system.
Not a MQM voter; but I strongly support more provinces in the country.
The automatic hate spewed by some commentators here is not surprising. The fact of the matter is, that even though it may not be the highest priority at the moment, new administrative units are what this country needs. But not the kind some vested interests are calling for. The new provinces or states needed should be no more than the size of the current districts. May sanity prevail in this country.
Long live Altaf Hussain. The pride of Pakistan.
This man knows he is being ignored and rightly so, therefore all these shananigans. He should worry about saving himself from Metropolitan Police.
Please handover MQM to Musharraf!!!
New provinces should be made administratively by mixing atleast two athnicities together..E.g. areas of pashtoon majority mixing with Punjabi or Baloch majority mixing with Sindhi majority. This will help in reducing ethnicity and help us think like a nation.
@ZAK..Army shouldnt fully back the govt. Infact Army shouldnt back anyone and Nawaz Govt shouldnt ask army to facilitate or negotiate on their behalf as N league ministers love to bash Army right after asking them to resolve political crisis. Why would anyone or army for that matters would support such backstabbing govt/politicians
Go Nawaz go.' Altaf has hit the nail on the head as always. Of recent, his statements are pointed and hit their mark. The COAS realizes that time and money are not on our side. His hands are fairly full. The armed forces will have no option but to serve the citizens and do away with the present decrepit and decaying system. Salams
Actually support for IK/Qadri amount to disrupt democracy, which these leaders claim to protect. See: http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/bbb645ba-39c3-11e4-93da-00144feabdc0.html#axzz3DXWmT52L
@Wishful: Bhai wants the Army to side with the dharnis. But the London plan, he should know better has sectarian leanings.
Pakistan Army's neutral stance in view of Islamabad Sit in is beyond understanding. Army should fully back Nawaz Govt who elected govt.
Army should give clear message to Ik and Qadri to leave Islamabad.Country cannot afford more economic losses incurred due to dharna.
So, people, the majority of people are those who voted for NS. Thus, the Army should side with the present Government.
Trying his best to stay relevant.
More provinces a must idea to move forward. Great idea, must be implemented.
"Altaf said, people who have adopted a feudal outlook in the party......"
Can't even recognize himself in the mirror, poor sod!
".....chief asked everyone to spread the message of love ..."
Same message which Dr Imran Farooque, Azim Ahmed Tariq and countless other brothers took to their graves!
Always looking for a "broad" shoulder; either to cry on or climb upon!
I am honestly asking this, but why don't you just leave us all alone. You are irrelevant, no one cares what you have to say. The Guardian describes Rehman Malik as a buffoon, I think they need to use that word for you now.
