ISLAMABAD:

Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) announced on Monday that by-polls in NA-149 Multan II constituency will be held on October 16. The seat fell vacant after resignation of disgruntled PTI leader Makhdoom Javed Hashmi.

The ECP said that nomination papers would be received on September 22 and 23 and their scrutiny will be held on the following two days.

It said that candidates can withdraw their names by September 30 and the final list of the candidates would be published next day.

The former president of PTI, Javed Hashmi, is expected to contest by-polls as independent candidate. PML-N and PPP were unlikely to field their candidates to allow Hashmi a smooth sailing in the by-polls. Hashmi had formally requested the NA speaker to accept his resignation on September 2, his resignation was accepted from August 18, the date written on the document.

What are PTI guys so bothered about? Hashmi is contesting as an independent, the PPP and PML-N will, as this report suggests, not be in the field, so the PTI should put up its candidate for a straight fight between their candidate and Hashmi. That way we will know who has how much support.

You are changing sides and backed out due to your selfish stupidity and Allah is going to take revenge because you supported the oppressor. “A tyrant and the one who helps an oppressor as well as the one who is pleased with such injustice all the three are accomplices in the sin”–Muhammad al-Baqir (RAA)
