Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) announced on Monday that by-polls in NA-149 Multan II constituency will be held on October 16. The seat fell vacant after resignation of disgruntled PTI leader Makhdoom Javed Hashmi.
The ECP said that nomination papers would be received on September 22 and 23 and their scrutiny will be held on the following two days.
It said that candidates can withdraw their names by September 30 and the final list of the candidates would be published next day.
The former president of PTI, Javed Hashmi, is expected to contest by-polls as independent candidate. PML-N and PPP were unlikely to field their candidates to allow Hashmi a smooth sailing in the by-polls. Hashmi had formally requested the NA speaker to accept his resignation on September 2, his resignation was accepted from August 18, the date written on the document.

What are PTI guys so bothered about? Hashmi is contesting as an independent, the PPP and PML-N will, as this report suggests, not be in the field, so the PTI should put up its candidate for a straight fight between their candidate and Hashmi. That way we will know who has how much support.
You are changing sides and backed out due to your selfish stupidity and Allah is going to take revenge because you supported the oppressor. “A tyrant and the one who helps an oppressor as well as the one who is pleased with such injustice all the three are accomplices in the sin”–Muhammad al-Baqir (RAA)
@Sara: Pakistani forces are not tyrants, apart from those who were involved in East Pakistan's fiasco. Infact most of the generals, admirals and air marshals are from middle classes with moderate sensibilities. It's this very corrupt democratic system which brings them into play, they come for the people but then get power hungry, for the role and oath of the forces is to safeguard the state and its people. This is the very reason why the forces do not act against people.
Javed Hashmi has saved democracy while his own political career is in danger. He is a true politician who stood against the tyrant third umpire. There is a difference in blindly following IK as a prophecy and following IK as a human. Seldom follow IK as a human and they need to cross check their vision.
Go Imran Go
Hashmi just want to prove that he has a personal following and he can win the elections without PTI ticket. Whether he wins or lose he became an irrelevant to Pakistan politics.
With due respect..Please retire from Politics. You have been proven 2 numberey.. For your own sake say good bye to politics.. You will loose this election .
I am a strong follower for PTI
But for Javed Hashmi, even IK accepted that he is a man of principles and can stand infront of anyone once he feels anything against his principles, he does not care for his political career, he is like this.
If only more politicians would have been of his stature.
Though all of his allegations against IK has been proved wrong, even he accepted that he said something totally baseless against IK in Javed Ch. program.
Lets see how PTI think tanks handle this situation
The Ghadaar Hashmi, on what moral authority is he president of PTI and constesting elections without the prior approval/permission of party?
Dont understand why ET still reports Javed Hashmi as PTI leader? He has been expelled from the party long time ago
By truly resigning (not fake pretensions) Hashmi has proved he talks his talk and walks his walk. Hopefully he contests the elections as he said he is a true democrat and all paths lead to parliament. By winning as independent he can prove that he is a real leader in his own right and not dependent on any lifelong leader of party. By being a democrat Hashmi has done tremendous service to our country. While the other leaders were praising Gen Mush and never went to jail for a single day Hashmi spent many years behind bars.
Hashmi became important as an unguided missile, hitting everyone close and far without warning. He should be a discarded but PMLN will probably take him back as it is the party of mentally challenged.
Mr Hashmi with all due respects, words that you wont understand, please RIP for the sake of Pakistan and its poor people.
