Friendly fire : Wanted man shot dead

Police said his accomplices managed to escape.

BAHAWALNAGAR: A man wanted for 26 cases of heinous crimes was killed and two policemen were injured in a shootout near Saddar police station on Monday.

Police said they received information that Maqsood alias Soodi and his five accomplices - Zahoor alias Bagi, Faiz alias Dholi, Ali Sher alias Sheri and two unidentified men – were heading to Jhulan Chishti.

Police said they set up a picket to intercept them.

They said the men shot at the police team on seeing them. Police officials Ijaz and Mehmood Ahmad were injured.

Maqsood was shot and killed in friendly fire. Police said his accomplices managed to escape.
