The Simpsons celebrated its silver jubilee as television’s longest-running scripted television show on Friday with a special event titled ‘The Simpsons Take the Bowl’ at the Hollywood Bowl. The event featured memorable clips from the show, which were performed by the venue’s orchestra and guest artistes, reported the Daily Mail.

The event also featured famous voices artistes and cast members Nancy Cartwright, Hank Azaria and Yeardley Smith who performed in front of a live audience. A few members of the The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra wore tall blue wigs reminiscent of Marge Simpson’s hairstyle on the animated sitcom.

The event was a star-studded affair that was graced by the presence of celebrities such as Hans Zimmer and Conan O’Brien. Paying homage to the show, alternative pop star Weird Al Yankovic sang, “Oh yeah, The Simpsons will go on, long after the human race is gone,” while also performing a song on Homer and Marge to the beat of John Mellencamp’s Jack and Diane.

New Simpsons’ animations were especially commissioned for the show, which included a peek at the dysfunctional family arriving at the Hollywood Bowl for the event and Homer resisting the urge to press the fireworks button, reported the Los Angeles Times.

Another animated sketch showed Maggie pushing the fireworks button, which resulted in pyrotechnics exploding above the bowl of the Hollywood Bowl. The 26th season of the show is going to premiere on September 28 and includes a special Futurama crossover episode titled Simpsorama.
