Transparency International (TI) Pakistan has claimed that illegal appointments were made in the already overstaffed National Bank of Pakistan (NBP). In a letter addressed to the Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Transparency International Pakistan said that it has received complaints against the president of NBP for appointing many senior executives in the bank to accommodate near and dear ones. The whistleblower against corruption maintained that in order to accommodate the persons recommended by the high-ups including ministers and political leaders, the said person was selected first and then the post was created. NBP already has permanent officers appointed against all sanctioned posts of senior vice president, executive vice president, and senior executive vice president. However, NBP president Syed Ahmad Iqbal Ashraf has opened the floodgates of appointments on very high salaries through fake selection method of involving headhunters when the bank has no vacancies.
