End of line: Closing ceremony held for Azadi train

A closing ceremony for the Azadi train, which attracted a large number of enthusiastic visitors, was held on Thursday night.


The train arrived in Karachi on September 8 with 110 people, including artists and crew, and was warmly welcomed.


A closing ceremony was held at the Cantonment Railway Station, Karachi, on Thursday night, with Karachi Railway divisional superintendent Nisar Ahmed Memon as the chief guest.


Speaking on the occasion, Memon said that the purpose to organise the Azadi train journey was to highlight the significance of freedom, history and culture of all the four provinces for the young generation. Folk singers also presented national songs on the occasion. Later, Memon told the media that the Pakistan Railways has overcome its deficit, since it initiated its cargo service.
