According to the National Institute of Health (NIH), all three cases were reported from Khyber Agency, where polio eradication campaigns have been stopped due to the security situation.
The children diagnosed with polio are 18-month-old Abdul Rauf and eight-month-old Saleha from Bara tehsil, and 11-month-old Zareef from Jamrud tehsil. NIH added the three children diagnosed with the crippling disease had received no doses of anti polio vaccines.
The Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) are leading the count of polio cases reported in the country. Some 107 children from Fata have been diagnosed with the crippling virus this year. Fata is followed by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa with 25 cases so far. Eleven cases have been reported from Sindh, two from Balochistan and one from Punjab in the ongoing year.
The total number of confirmed polio cases in the country this year now stands at 146.
