Campaign to discourage use of plastic bags begins

Faisalabad Waste Management Company launched an awareness campaign on Tuesday against the use of polythene bags. FWMC workers distributed flyers and paper bags by launching an awareness campaign in the eight bazaars of Faisalabad city to discourage the use of plastic bags.


Communication Officer Farhan Ali Qazi, LWMC assistant managers and waste inspectors participated in the campaign. Qazi said more than a thousand shops had been targeted in order to encourage shopkeepers to use bio-degradable bags. Participants also distributed paper bags carrying leaflets and awareness messages. FWMC Managing Director Amjad Ali Awan said the activity was a part of the FWMC’s campaign against the use of polythene bags.
