
The fishermen, from Mirpur Sakro Taluka district in Thatta, had left on a fishing expedition on August 29 and were on their way to Karachi after catching tonnes of fish and prawns.
Local fishermen informed that the boat toppled over after being caught in high tide.
Thirteen fishermen who sustained injuries were rescued by local fishermen and were taken to a private hospital in Ibrahim Haidery.
“We were searching for the missing fishermen,” Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum’s Kamal Shah said. “The rescue operation was stopped due to darkness,” he added.
Local fishermen informed that a helicopter of the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency had also arrived to aid in rescue of the missing persons.
Shah said that Nawaz Jat, Yahya Jat, Qadar Katiyar and two persons of Khaskheli clan were missing. He also informed that those who survived left for their homes after treatment.
