The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their second as announced by the Royal household on Monday.

Prince George is about to get a royal sibling after the Royal House took to Twitter to announce the pregnancy of Kate Middleton.

The news comes following weeks of speculation that the couple was expecting another child after their brief trans-Tasman tour of Australia and New Zealand.

According to Belfast Telegraph, the Queen and families of both William and Kate are “delighted” by the news said Kensington Palace.  The announcement regarding the birth of the fourth-in-line to the throne comes almost two months after Prince George celebrated his first birthday on July 22.

The British Prime Minister offered a congratulatory message to the royal couple on Twitter, “Many congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. I’m delighted by the happy news that they’re expecting another baby.”

According to the Belfast Telegraph, the Kensington Palace said that Kate is suffering from acute morning sickness as she did during her first pregnancy and will not be joining her husband in a planned engagement at Oxford on September 8.

Thanks to a ruling by the Queen last year, all children of the Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, shall become His/Her Royal Highness (HRH).

The Queen made the ruling issuing a Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the Realm in December 2012 when Kate was just a few months pregnant with her first child, declaring “all the children of the eldest son of the Prince of Wales should have and enjoy the style, title and attribute of royal highness with the titular dignity of prince or princess prefixed to their Christian names or with such other titles of honour.”

The second born of the royal family who are oft-dubbed as the ‘spare to the heir’ due to the characteristically less cautious nature of their role enjoy the freedom they are given as they don’t have to prepare to rule as monarchs.

Prince Harry and Princess Margaret were both referred to as the ‘spares to the heir’ and were constantly scrutinised for their conduct.

Prince Harry has been dubbed as a party prince by the British tabloids after he was got in a scuffle with the paparazzi or more recently when he was photographed playing billiards naked whilst holidaying in Las Vegas.

With the birth of Prince William’s second child, Prince Harry would slip further down to the fifth in line for the throne. Admirers from around the world have taken to social media to wish the Royal couple health and  happines.
