Breaking deadlock: Jirga dismayed over govt, agitators’ rigidity

Haq says jirga will hear both the parties and seek viable solution to resolve the gridlock

KARACHI:

The political Jirga of opposition parties has expressed ‘dismay’ over the current political impasse and said both protesting parties and the government are not willing to show flexibility.

“We have broken the deadlock by resuming the dialogue process and negotiation has reached the final stage, but not tangible result has so far come out,” said Jamaat-e-Islam (JI) Ameer Sirajul Haq.

He was talking to media after holding a meeting with PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari at Bilawal House in late Saturday night.

Haq said the jirga will hear both the parties and seek viable solution to resolve the gridlock that can be acceptable to all stakeholders.

The JI ameer said the nation was suffering from mental agony because of the current political situation, which had badly affected the socio-economic condition.

Siraj ul Haq and therefore the Jirga is actually favoring IK and PAT. For the government cannot really agree to resignation otherwise what is the point of agreeing to other demands. Siraj's "diplomacy" borders on duplicity, although given his pious appearance and "objectivity" no one is likely to suspect his double role.

Siraj ul Haq is not suitable for being an honest peace negotiator between PTI and the Government as he is PTI ally in KP. It is unfair to call the Govt. rigid as it has agreed to all demands but the resignation of the PM, which is unconstitutional and cannot be agreed to as a concession to intimidation. As IK gets more and more concessions, his rigidification increases.
