Calamity hit: Flood affected will not be ignored says Shahbaz

CM visits Zafarwal, reviews relief operation.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday said that the government was committed to helping flood-affected people of the province.


He was addressing flood victims during a visit to Zafarwal in Narowal district.

“We will not rest until all flood victims have been rehabilitated,” he said.

The chief minister said that elected representatives and administrative officers should work diligently to help the people.

“Practical steps should be taken for the rehabilitation of flood victims. Negligence in relief activities will not be tolerated and action would be taken against any government official who neglected his duty,” he said.

The chief minister assured the affected people that the government would provide funds for the rehabilitation work.

Sharif also visited relief camps set up in the affected areas where he was given a detailed briefing about relief activities and medical facilities being provided to the flood victims.

He directed the officials to ensure the availability of medicines and the presence of doctors at the relief camps.

The CM expressed sorrow at the damages caused by flooding of the Nullah Daik.

He directed the administration to accelerate relief activities and take immediate steps to drain the rainwater.

During his visit to relief camps, he directed the administration that food, medicines and other essential items should immediately be provided to the affected people.

He also directed the officials to arrange water pumps at the relief camps.

Sharif said that he was personally monitoring the situation.

The CM also met the father of a child who died in a rain-related accident. He expressed sympathy and gave him a cheque for financial assistance.

On the CM’s arrival at Zafarwal, thousands of people gathered. The CM said that he would soon visit the area again for reviewing the relief activities.
