Lahore Bar Association (LBA) leaders on Saturday demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif after he was nominated in the FIR for the June 17 Model Town violence.
LBA secretary Salim Ladhi was speaking to journalists. He said the bar would choose a course of action if the resignation was not tendered in two days.
He said those nominated in the FIR should vacate public offices. Ladhi said the public had the right to stage peaceful protest demonstrations.
He said no tolerance could be shown for police action against demonstrators in Islamabad. Ladhi said the Chinese premier had cancelled his state visit to Pakistan due to the government’s incompetence.
He praised opposition parties for playing a constructive role in the political impasse.
