RAWALPINDI:

A man posing as an income tax officer shot and killed a 45-year-old lady health worker at her home in Cantt View Colony here on Friday. The deceased, Shabana Malik, was in charge of a polio vaccination team in Moorat, Fateh Jang and had earlier sustained multiple injuries after unidentified attackers on a motorcycle shot at her in July this year. Police say they are uncertain about the motive and the attackers.

The incident took place within the limits of Police Station (PS) Westridge. Her son told The Express Tribune that a man arrived at the family home and introduced himself as an income tax officer. The man asked for some income tax details and said he needed to speak with an elder of the house.

The man whipped out his pistol and fired at Shabana as soon as he saw her, shooting her in the abdomen. She was rushed to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Ali said some boys in the neighbourhood tried to chase the attacker and pelted him with stones, but he managed to escape.

And the state continues to give protection to random nobodies just because they paid for a seat in parliament.

Those who are shooting polio workers have to be insane as they do not understand what harm they are doing to the whole country.
