KARACHI: In the wake of the heavy rainfall in the country which has resulted in several deaths, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has requested the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to postpone their respective Inquilab and Azadi sit-ins in Islamabad. “I request the leaders and their workers to postpone their protests and get involved in relief activities. Once the monsoon season has passed, they can resume their demonstrations,” Altaf said in a statement on Friday. He said that the government and the opposing parties should be on the same page, and work together to provide relief to the rain-affected persons. Altaf also said that the government’s top priority at the moment should be rehabilitating those rendered homeless by the rainfalls. The MQM chief said that as a goodwill gesture, the government should release all the detained protesters.
