As rescue officials and police teams responded to emergency calls, routine police work at several stations in Lahore was impeded as rainwater flooded the buildings.
Water had to be pumped out from the stations and police officials were able to start the day’s work by 1 pm.
Due to the unavailability of pumps at Harbanspura and Shadbagh police stations, officials used buckets to drain water from the rooms and swept the floors.
“Water keeps dripping from the ceilings in several rooms and we fear that case records kept here will be destroyed,” said an official at Shadbagh police station.
An SHO at another police station said that whenever the stations are flooded during the rains, policemen must wait outside the station for the Water and Sanitation Agency teams.
