Political upheaval: Karim expresses concern
Dr Sajjad Karim says EU is keen for Pakistan to get back on the road to economic and political stability
ISLAMABAD:
Senior British Member of European Parliament Dr Sajjad Karim has said that the European Union (EU) is keen for Pakistan to get back on the road to economic and political stability and he would do all he can to ensure a fruitful partnership between the two. During a meeting in the European Parliament in Brussels with the EU’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, to discuss the current political situation in Pakistan, he said, “The demonstration quickly went from being peaceful to becoming extremely violent; this is very worrying,” said Dr Karim, who recently received Pakistan’s highest civil award Sitara-i-Quaid-i-Azam for his work in building relations between Pakistan and the EU. “Pakistan has made great strides recently in bringing stability; however, as the course of the last few days show, it is still very fragile.”
