Game of Thrones has become popular for its affluence of diverse and distinct characters. Entertainment website Vulture reported that Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) and his wordsmith bodyguard Hodor (Kristian Nairn) will not be appearing on the next season of the fantasy drama television series, Game of Thrones.

According to the Kristian Nairn, the showrunners have decided to leave out the characters of Hodor and Bran out for a season because their characters’ story arcs are now up to pace with George R. R. Martin’s books.

Kristian Nairn informed Yahoo! News about the latest development saying that, “We have a season off and we have a year’s hiatus solely because I imagine our storyline is up to the end of the books.”

Despite the writers’ decision to write him off for the season, Kristian Nairn is not fretting over the possibility of not returning to the show this season. In fact, he intends to enjoy his hiatus by continuing his work as a DJ during his time off. As TIME reported that he will be touring and performing his Game of Thrones-themed tours, “Rave of Thrones” which he is currently hosting across Australia.

By the end of the fourth season Hodor and Bran Stark had set out on a journey to the North in an attempt to meet the Three-Eyed Raven. HBO has not yet commented upon the actors’ absence from the upcoming season and has chosen to remain rather tight lipped on the issue.

Meanwhile Bryan Cogman, one of the principle writers of the show told EWOnline that the twists and turns during the course of the last season ensured that the Lannisters have usurped the Starks as the “new principal family” of the show.
