QUETTA:

Balochistan National Party (BNP) on Wednesday staged a protest outside Quetta Press Club (QPC) against killing of members of Zikri sect, murder of a senior journalist and military operation in Kech.

A score of people carrying placards and banners gathered outside the QPC and raised slogans against the government and security forces for what they called their alleged involvement in the persecution of Zikris and a targeted killing of Irshad Mastoi, a senior journalist from Quetta.

The protestors also accused state functionaries of killing innocent people in Tump and Dasht Gumazai area of Kech district in the name of search operation.

“Unarmed and innocent Zikri people are being victimised by state-backed armed groups. This should stop,” said BNP’s Information Secretary Agha Hassan. “There is no peace in Balochistan and journalists are being brutally killed in their offices,” he added.

Hassan said people in Balochistan would never forget the ‘brutal policies’ of the provincial government.

Another BNP leader Ghulam Nabi Marri said around 30 people have been killed so far in military operation in Tump and Gumazai areas.

Why BNP never protests at the killing of hundreds of common citizens in Balochistan who were butchered just because they spoke Punjabi and Urdu languages ?
