The National Accountability Bureau’s Rawalpindi chapter has approved filing of another reference in a Rs150 million modaraba (Islamic mode of investment) scandal, The Express Tribune has learnt.
The reference has been approved against Muhammad Irfan, Bolan City managing director, and four other suspects on charges of corruption, corrupt practices and cheating public at large in the name of shariah-compliant investment. The other four suspects are: Hamid Nawaz, Chaudhry Umar Farooq, Adeel Nasir Butt and Muhammad Jareer Afzal.
NAB Spokesman Hafiz Irfan confirmed the approval of the reference. “The reference has been approved by NAB’s Rawalpindi DG under the National Accountability Ordinance 1999 and will be filed in the Accountability Court soon,” he said.
