CHARSADDA: Residents of Charsadda demand the release of Pakistani prisoners detained in jails in Saudi Arabia. Held at Tangi Chowk on Wednesday, the protest was attended by people from all walks of life. Dozens of Pakistanis have been incarcerated in Saudi jails, despite possessing the requisite visas, said speakers. Qamar Din, Sher Zaman, Haya Gul and other residents of the area said the president and prime minister of Pakistan should take notice of the situation and take immediate steps for the release of innocent prisoners. At least 30 people from Parang Ghar are behind bars in Al Qara Jail, said the protesters. These Pakistani’s were earlier employed as labourers, they added, and were arrested without any specific reasons.
