The government has imposed Section 144 of the Pakistan Penal Code in Rahim Yar Khan for 15 days.
Rahm Yar Khan District Police Officer (DPO) Sohail Zafar Chatta said the ban would remain intact until September 14. He said Section 144 had been imposed in the wake of current political situation. Gathering of five or more people, protest demonstrations and display of weapons have been banned.Chatta ordered police to take appropriate action those violating the ban. He said assembly of people and protest demonstrations would not be tolerated.
Separately, Chatta ordered a crackdown on drug dealers and those keeping weapons illegally. Police have seized 170 litres of liquor and a liquor brewing furnace from six drug dealers. Police registered a case against them and arrested one of them who was identified as Muhammad Farooq. Police also arrested four people and recovered two 32 bore revolvers and two 30 bore pistols from them.
