ISLAMABAD:
Schools, colleges in Islamabad will open on September 1 after prolonged summer vacation due to the ongoing sit-ins. The administration got 32 schools vacated from police and FC officials on Friday. The action came a day after the Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) wrote to district government and the interior ministry to get the institutes vacated. Currently, about 59 schools and colleges are being occupied by police officials who were brought in from Punjab and Azad Jammu Kashmir to guard the city amid the sit-ins and long marches. Schools were due to open on August 11 after the summer vacations but the opening dates have been extended thrice because of the requests made by district administration and the interior ministry. According to CADD spokesperson Sana Hamid, classes would commence on September 1 in all institutions and students who belong to the possessed schools will be accommodated in other institutes.
