Better healthcare: Children’s hospital plans expansion

The completion of the Rs1.5 billion project would increase the bed facilities in the hospital

KARACHI:

Construction work on a new double-storey building in Sindh Government Children’s Hospital is underway with financial assistance from Japan and the project is expected to be completed in January 2015, said the hospital’s medical superintendent Dr Asif Zaman on Thursday.

The completion of the Rs1.5 billion project would increase the bed facilities in the hospital, which was established in 2003 with a 50-bed capacity, he said. He added that the hospital’s out-patient attendance has increased to 1,500 per day from 600 per day previously.
