In continuation of Independence Day celebrations, Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) staged an informative and constructive play titled “Pehchan Humari Pakistan”, written by Azhar Firoz and directed by Imran Rushdi.

The main theme of the play was that Pakistan is our identity, said a press release. Social issues were discussed with positive criticism. The play opened with two stalls --- one mobile easy-load shop run by a blind person and a vegetable shop run by deaf person. The first scene sarcastically describes our society by suggesting some people are misfits for their jobs.

The people feel pride under the flag of their own parties but the main character Ehsan Qureshi told them that we are only under national flag which symbol of unity.

The writer also criticised
the adoption of western culture. Besides the Muslims, religious groups such as Christians, Hindu, Sikh and others residing in Pakistan also felt pride under the national flag.

The 14 actors in the play including Ehsan Qureshi, Naeem Tota, Reha Yousaf, Naeem Bubba, Amin Shehzad, Taskeen Victor and Rana Kashif play wonderful role and received thunder appreciation. Naheed Manzoor and the RAC resident director were present among the large audience of twin cities’ residents.
