QUETTA: Unknown armed militants opened fire at an oil tanker in Mastung district, about 45-kilometer southeast of Quetta, on Thursday. The tanker was partially damaged. “It was not a NATO supplies tanker,” Deputy Commissioner Ali Akbar told The Express Tribune adding, “It was a tanker truck filled with grease.” The armed men were on two motorbikes and stopped the oil tanker near Mastung which was on its way from Karachi to Chaman, a town that borders Afghanistan. “The armed men asked for money and opened fire after driver said he had nothing,” Mohammed Hanif, SHO, Mastung police station told The Express Tribune. The driver and cleaner were spared unhurt. “Police and Balochistan Levies provide security to NATO containers. The NATO supplies pass by with police and security forces’ convoy,” Hanif added. The oil tanker was partially damaged.
