LAHORE: An additional district and sessions judge issued a show cause notice on Tuesday to Gulberg Circle ASP Dr Rizwan for not completing an inquiry in a case registered by a former Pearl Continental (PC) Hotel general manager.

The judge directed the ASP to submit the inquiry report by September 4, otherwise action would be taken against him.

Irshad Butt, a former general manager of PC Hotel, had registered a case against two hotel workers for stealing jewellery worth Rs30 million.

He stated that during his employment at the PC Hotel, he had been given two lockers in which he had kept his wife’s jewellery. “However, the two workers prevented my wife from accessing the locker when she went to get the jewellery,” he said.

At previous hearings, the judge had directed the suspects to join the investigation and granted them bails. The complainant had earlier told the court that the investigation officer was not conducting the inquiry impartially.
