Break in: Thieves loot over Rs1m from a house

ABBOTABAD: Unidentified thieves broke into a house in the city and stole jewellery, cash and prize bonds worth over a million rupees, police said on Monday. According to the police, Syed Azhar Shah owns Al-Syed Nadra Kiosk in Mohallah Sheikul Bandi. Shah told the police he was at his shop on Sunday and his family was away attending a wedding ceremony when unidentified thieves broke into his house and stole gold jewellery weighing 13 tolas, Rs100,000 in cash and prize bonds worth Rs300,000. Shah said his family returned home and found the locks broken and the valuables missing after which they informed the police, saying the thieves might have scaled the boundary wall to get in. A suspect was arrested from a neighbouring house with the help of sniffer dogs after initial investigation.
