Minorities’ rights: Civil society, media join forces

Media praised for shedding light on minorities' rights

QUETTA: Civil society groups and media representatives have launched a combined effort for the preservation of the rights of minorities in Balochistan. The decision came during a follow-up session of the media and South Asia Partnership Pakistan Organisation, SEHER and CPD organisation, on Thursday. The participants expressed their resolve to bring the issues of the minorities into the notice of the powers that matter so that effective measures could be adopted for their redress. The speakers lauded the role of the media for highlighting the issues of the minorities and added that many of the issues have been resolved after being reported in the mainstream media. The participants also stressed upon inclusion of ethical subjects in the curriculum for minority students.  The participants also stressed upon the need of halting the migration of the minorities from Balochistan.
