DARGAI: Sakhakot levies foiled a kidnapping bid and arrested the accused on Monday.

Levies in charge Subedar Amir Zaman Khan told The Express Tribune they learnt that two traders with poultry businesses in Board Bazaar Peshawar, Saeed Nabi and his friend Mubarik Shah, had been kidnapped from GT Road by armed gunmen on Monday. Levies forces set up check posts at different places on the directions of Dargai Assistant Commissioner Fayaz Khan Sherpao.

Zaman said they stopped a car in which the kidnappers were taking Nabi and Shah, who were residents of Akora Khattak, and arrested six kidnappers.

However, the leader of the gang, Saleem, managed to escape.

While speaking to the media, Nabi said he and his partner were transporting their livestock from Bannu to Chitral, when they were stopped by the gunmen on their way back.

Nabi appreciated the efforts of levies forces, saying they were recovered within half an hour and a case had been registered against the kidnappers.

On the other hand, the accused claimed they were not kidnappers but that Nabi had taken a Rs200,000 loan from them and had asked them to come to Sakhakot to receive the amount.
