Gunned down: Defence committee member shot dead

Assailants managed to escape after the incident, the police have surrounded the area and started a search operation.

MINGORA: A village defence committee member was shot dead in Nawakali, a suburb of Mingora, on Tuesday. According to Mingora police, Rashid Ahmad, alias Sabyaq, was shot and injured outside his residence by unidentified gunmen. Ahmad was rushed to Saidu Teaching Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The assailants managed to escape after the incident while the police have surrounded the area and started a search operation. Local residents demanded law enforcement agencies take effective measures against militants and curb attacks on peace and defence committees.
