Public welfare: Efforts afoot to curb poverty says minister

The minister said Rs2 billion had been earmarked for the welfare of working class.

LAHORE: Labour Minister Raja Ashfaq Sarwar said on Friday said the government had been pursuing the “revolutionary agenda” of serving the people of Pakistan. “Mainstreaming the poor is our priority,” the minister told delegations of labourers at his office on Friday. The minister for labour said that provision of education and health was imperative for the country’s progress. “An effective strategy has been devised for the alleviation of poverty in the country. Several programmes have been initiated for the welfare of the deprived.” He said job opportunities were bring created for the youth. Loans of soft terms are being given to the skilled, jobless people. The minister said Rs2 billion had been earmarked for the welfare of working class.
